Cross-border exchanges: WUWM

The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) is a nonprofit
organization founded in 1955.

As the international umbrella organization, WUWM unites the world’s major fresh food centres and promotes a mutual exchange on the topic of best practices. The Union seeks to educate and inspire its members by means of congresses and meetings, reports and studies; it helps members establish, organize, manage and develop markets and supports their specific lobbying interests. At the official WUWM conferences people in positions of responsibility give talks about current developments and there are discussion rounds with highly qualified panels. The liveliest interest is now being registered in the “BRICS countries” (i.e. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). Hamburg Wholesale Market?s management board plays an active role in the work of the association.
